Essential oils for labor

OilsforPreg

Essential Oils can be very beneficial for every-day personal health. But not too many people know about the healing qualities that essential oils can provide to mothers during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. They are effective and perfectly safe to use during pregnancy and labor because they are 100% natural with no synthetic properties. One of the most satisfactory aspects of using essential oils medicinally and cosmetically is that they enter and leave the body with great efficiency, leaving no toxins behind. They serve as a physical, emotional and mental support. Babies also benefit from the use of essential oils in helping their immune systems and enhancing mother/baby bonding.

I only use dōTERRA (CPTG) Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils because they are the safest, purest, and most beneficial essential oils available today. Here are a few examples of how essentials oils are beneficial during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Please visit my online store to order dōTERRA products.

Labor and Birth

Clary Sage is a uterine tonic that assists with effective contractions, calms the nervous system, relieves tension, brings on labor, and helps with expelling afterbirth. Can be blended with geranium, and lavender.
Geranium enhances circulation and is good for labor management techniques, which focus on breathing and pain relief.
Basil can be used to relieve pain in labor and in turn gives you the strength needed to endure with greater ease.
Black Pepper is similar to Basil and can be used to relieve pain in labor—especially back labor.
Citrus Bliss is a combination of the citrus oils and are naturally antibacterial, they are anti-depressant and refreshing.
Myrhh may help to intensify contractions and get things moving when labor has stalled.
Peppermint can help reduce anxiety and hypertension when inhaled.
Elevation is great for creating a joyful experience.
Serenity is a calming blend designed to reduce stress by calming the nervous system, creating a sense of well being.
Balance is the perfect blend to balance and ground you. It can help relax you and increase a sense of courage.
Helichrysum is an excellent lubricant oil for perineum support during pushing. It helps to stretch tissue while minimizing pain and swelling, and avoiding tears.

Postpartum and Baby

Frankincense can be used on the baby in the first few minutes after birth to help the baby feel that everything is going to be okay.
Balance gives a baby a grounding effect and makes them feel like they belong.
Melissa helps us remember our original blueprint and assist us in reaching our highest potential
